With 19 years in the mortgage industry, over 5,000 loans personally closed, and more than $3 billion in production overseen, Chuck Mathewson brings a depth of experience that is rare in any market — and virtually unmatched in Cleveland County, North Carolina.

Chuck is a North Carolina native who grew up in Elon, earned his undergraduate degree from Western Carolina University, and spent years building his career in the Charlotte metro area before settling in Shelby in 2020 to be closer to family. What started as a move home quickly became something more: a mission. Chuck recognized that Cleveland County — a community full of hardworking people and growing families — had no locally owned mortgage brokerage to call its own. Every borrower was being served by big banks or out-of-town lenders with no real stake in the community.

In 2023, Chuck founded Mathewson Mortgage Capital LLC (NMLS #2494312) — and it remains the only locally owned mortgage brokerage in Shelby, Kings Mountain, and Cleveland County.
